The Board’s decision to explore the option of moving 8th graders to the Middle School and 9th graders to the Senior High is about more than relocating classrooms—it’s about providing students with new opportunities. This episode dives into the educational "Why" behind our proposed facility plan. We discuss how 9th graders would benefit from full integration into the high school experience, how all secondary students would have expanded access to course offerings, and how reducing school transitions supports student success. Join us as we discuss how a more efficient building footprint leads to a more robust and cohesive learning journey for every DCE student. Part two of our three-part facility planning series.

In September 2024, discovery of major infrastructure issues at the Junior High sparked a critical conversation about the future of our District. In this episode, we sit down with our Assistant Superintendent of Operations and Assistant Superintendent of Learning to pull back the curtain on the Facility Study and enrollment data that guided our path forward. We explore why the "cheapest" option on paper—renovating an aging building—was actually the least sustainable choice for our taxpayers. Learn how the District is responding to declining enrollment by constructing a plan to "right-size" our schools to protect our budget and prioritize the student experience.

Welcome to the Everest Roots Podcast, where the stories of our students take center stage. In this episode, we’re exploring what happens when we play, compete and grow together.
We’re sitting down with the incredible students behind BlueJay Unified and Unified Pals—two clubs dedicated to bridging gaps and building bonds. From our 4th and 5th graders discovering the joy of new friendships to our 8th and 9th graders leading the way in social inclusion, these students are proving that the best way to move forward is together. Whether it’s through sports, games, or just hanging out, they are tearing down barriers and showing us the true meaning of community.
This is about more than just clubs—it’s about the heart of our hallways. This is our connection. Our community. Our #EverestPride.
So grab your teammates and tune in — Let’s Bark About It.
